Saying Goodbye to Charlie. 11.5.10

It’ll take time I know.
The hurt and sadness will gradually go away.
He was such a wonderful dog! Amazing!
We rescued Charlie in April 2003, one year after we had to
let our Weim, Butch go.
He came very well trained. An elderly couple gave him up to the dog pound
saying they couldn’t handle him. I imagine they trained him in a harsh way
as he was also afraid.
Everyone loved Charlie when they met him.
I jokingly called him John’s hemroid because he was constantly up John’s butt.
He loved John more than anything in the world I imagine.
He loved me too but when John was home, it was always John he was with.
He only treated 2 other people like that in his life with us, my son Trey and my sister, Cathy.
He showed love to all but those 3 he was attached to.
I got the call this morning, Doc called from the OR. Said things looked bad.
His spleen was a total waste, his liver was hard.
Charlie NEVER net on that he was sick and we would of never of known
had he not had the diareah and throwing up in the past week or so.
I got to the vet after the Dr called.
They took me straight back to Charlie.
He was still sedated.
I rubbed on him, petted him, loved him. Rubbed my face on his fur.
Whispered to him how much we loved him. Went through everyone he knew (family)
and told him they were going to miss him.
Told him what a wonderful dog he was and how sorry I was.
I kissed on him and snuggled.
John couldn’t make it.:(I told Charlie Daddy said goodbye and that he loved him so much.
I told the lady we were ready. I walked around to the other side of him.
Laid my head on his, put my arm around him and whispered LOVE into his ear.
As she gave him the inject I realized my hand was over his heart, I realized I would feel his last heart beat.
I felt his last heart beat, his last breath and in a second he was gone.
There will never be a dog like Charlie ever again, he was and will always be one of a kind.
But he’s in such a wonderful place. No pain. Can eat what he wants. Can bark as loud as he wants.
He had a huge bark for a small dog.
Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.
Squeeze your pet for me tonight.

Saying Goodbye to 2010

2010 was a long year. Many things happened. Some happy, some sad.
We said goodbye to our home in Citronelle, AL. Said goodbye to my family in MS and moved to GA.
We had to say goodbye to our Charlie. That was the toughest of all.
We also said goodbye to GA and moved to NC!

I miss our home in Citronelle. I miss my family. I miss Charlie beyond belief, every day.
So hear is to hoping 2011 is better! For everyone!

my sister…

My sister called me last week. She had gone to her doctors for a regular weight check. The Dr was doing the regular stuff, listening to her heart, asked her to take a deep breath and it hurt when she did. Dr wanted to know what was going on, Cathy said it’s been going on for a while. Try to catch her breath, hurting when she takes a deep breath. Dr sent her directly to the ER.

Interesting enough, the ER Dr has just been diagnosed with pancreatitis. So he sent Cathy off for an xray. They saw that her pancreas was enlarged and there was a spot. Sent her for a CT which found a mass.

Cathy’s husband is retired Navy. So she was at the military hospital. Since no one on the MS Gulf Cost did the procedure her Dr wanted done she was referred to a Dr in AL. Of course there is a referral process that they have to go through with the insurance. So the waiting game began. Finally, she called me yesterday, a week later, her appointments have been set up.
Consult Thursday, procedure Friday. So we wait again.

I’ll head down to MS Wednesday to be with my sister as she goes through this. and Pray for a positive out come.

My sister is the oldest of the three of us. I’m the middle child and my little brother, Robert is the youngest. We grew up in the typical family. Dad was the disciplinary, Mom was the tattle tale LOL You know, wait til your father gets home?

They raised us to the best of their ability. Their ability being what they learned from being raised by their parents. I believe we turned out ok. We were never on drugs. No illegal activity. We all 3 have wonderful families we’ve raised ourselves.

The 3 of us were not close growing up but as the years have gone by, you know, after graduation, starting your own family, we became closer. I’ve always been the one that lived away from home. Cathy & Robert have always lived in MS. So I’d say they’re a little closer to each other than I, and that’s ok. I love them more than anything. I can’t imagine life without them.

So anyway, my sister, Cathy, can be the biggest PITA ever but she’s my sister and has never lead me astray. I will update more next week.

Boring day!

What a boring day! Up too early. Ate lunch at The Golden Corral. Took the long way back home.

Watched some of the race and thought about a nap. John did more than think about it LOL!

And here I am. Blogging with my iPhone. Fun times.

LOL ETA: Happy Anniversary Matt & Melanie!!
